Modernization Project - Kitimat

The Rio Tinto Alcan Kitimat Modernization Project (KMP) is a complete rebuild of the aluminum smelter in Kitimat, BC. Originally built in the 1950’s, the smelter will receive new state-of-the-art production technology that will increase production capacity from 275,000 to over 420,000 metric tonnes annually while also significantly improving the energy efficiency of the smelting process.
Kentron Construction has been awarded the concrete supply contract for the KMP project. Kentron Construction will supply over 120,000 cubic metres (m3) of concrete by the end of 2013.
Kentron Construction has established a new concrete batch plant located in an existing quarry beside the construction yard about 5 km from the jobsite.
